A SurferQuest solution does not require the expertise of a technical staff.

How can I charge my Clientele for using SurferQuest?
SurferQuest’s Rental Management System accepts all major Credit Cards. SurferQuest also distributes Prepaid Access Cards, Laptop Rental Cards and Account Cards.

How can I accept Credit Cards for payment?
You need a Verisign account. That is an institution that verifies/processes Credit Card payments online. If you have one, you can use that. We can assist you in setting an account up.

What is the Rental Management System?
The surferQuest System comes with a built-in Rental Management System. It keeps track of the time that a user spends on the internet kiosk. It is displayed on-screen so the user has a clear view on it. So if a Client purchases, for example, 30 minutes, the counter in the window counts down. The system reboots as soon as the time is up.

Do I HAVE TO charge for the internet kiosk?
No.
Our business model is to simply rent our service (equipment and software) on an annual basis. Therefore, it is up to our customers whether they charge for this service or offer it as a free amenity.

What if I do charge for the internet kiosk, who decides how much?
You decide what to charge, because you know your demographics better than anyone. We can only assist you.

If I want to change my charges what do I do?
Since SurferQuest is server based, you can remotely change the rates you charge. To make changes to the pricing, etc. it is a simple call to us.

Can I only charge for certain peak hours of the day?
You can set variable rates throughout the day down to the unit level. Again, this is a simple call to SurferQuest.

Can I only purchase the software?
SurferQuest does offer a “software only” alternative. However, depending upon quantities per location, this solution may require the customer to ship the existing PC to our Headquarters.

As Technical as it gets
What kind of Internet connection do I need?
Broadband access (DSL, Cable Modem, T1, Satellite, Wireless, etc.) is best. Incase of mulitple systems you also need a router, configured as a DHCP server.

How much space will I need to place a internet kiosk?
This will depend upon which unit you choose to go with. Our Desktop’s and Laptop’s are standard Dell products. Please call us directly to get exact dimensions of this equipment along with our Countertop and Pedestal units

Do I need to prepare the spot where the SurferQuest internet kiosk will be placed?
Yes
Make sure there is electricity and Internet Connectivity (fixed TCP/IP or wireless 802.11b).

What about Wireless?
The internet kiosk can be configured to operate in a wireless environment. You need to purchase a Wireless Access Point (LINKSYS is cheap and good) to connect the SQ units to. We do need to know how the Wireless Access Point is configured so we can configure the SurferQuest unit accordingly.

Safety, Security, Privacy
Is the SurferQuest kiosk immune to the key logger programs?
Yes

Is the internet kiosk protected against Virusses?
Yes, Virusses cannot harm a SurferQuest PC.

Is the kiosk protected against Hacks?
Yes

Does the internet kiosk protect the privacy of each of my Clients (users)?
Yes
After each session the system reboots itself and permanently erases all previously stored files (documents, cookies, history, etc).

Can I put information about my business on the kiosks?
SurferQuest provides a tremendous opportunity for our clients to brand the units and market their own products and services on the various screens. SurferQuest will have a small logo stating “Powered by SurferQuest” on the unit and screens only. Our clients have direct control over the content viewed by their guests.

How much extra paper work and time will I have to put in if I offer this?
Assuming you already have an internet connection and verisign account, the only paperwork you will have to do is to sign our one page contract.

I don’t think my patrons will use this, why do you think I need it?
You may be surprised by the type of people using our service. The obvious users are the business travelers who absolutely demand to be connected to the rest of the world almost 24 hours per day, but nowadays everyone has one purpose or another to stay connected.

Why should I use the SurferQuest kiosk as opposed to just buying my own computers and placing them in my business centers?
First of all, your core business is not computers. If you purchase your own computers, you will then have all the liability for that equipment. SurferQuest provides a very easy, no hassle way to manage the use of these systems using prepaid cards and/or Visa / Mastercard to access the systems.
SurferQuest provides an automated “self-healing” solution to ensure no proprietary or objectionable material is left on the systems after each and every use. To try to do this manually after each use is both time consuming and very costly.
