BG_left About Global Software Applications / SurferQuest

Global Software Applications started out as an internet cafe back in 1999 called Java Vista. Java Vista was located on a student campus. Ron Koning, one of the founders of Global Software Applications, was the technical engineer and responsible to keep the computers up to standard. He quickly found that manual cleaning and updating after each use was simply impossible, with the result that the private information of the previous user was left available for the next user. Other user left-over content such as viruses and malicious content remained also and needed to be taken care of.

SurferQuest was public computer software was created to meet the needs of public computer users. SurferQuest was created as automatic cleaning software that removes cookies and history and refreshes the PC back to the original and clean state. This is the only true way to offer a privacy protected solution to the users. Because user info and activity is not permanently stored on the SQ machine, it is impossible for hacks to recover this personal information

In 2001 Global Software Applications was established. Despite the fact that SurferQuest was originally developed for Internet Cafes, Ron decided to target the Hospitality Industry, a market where he predicted a large need for these products. SurferQuest products prove to be a major benefit to the hotel world time and time again.

Over time, several SurferQuest add-ons and stand-alone products were developed to satisfy the endless demand for new guest oriented products for the hospitality industry.

They Include:

  • SurferQuest LITE: The original security software developed to 1) ensure the privacy of each user and 2) make the system maintenance free for the Hotelier
  • SurferQuest Full Throttle: Charge Guests for usage
  • Pay-per-Print: Charging for prints separately even if access to the system itself is offered complimentary.
  • Full Throttle, Pay-as-you-Go: The original Full Throttle is Pay-per-Use, requiring the user to buy an increment of time for access to the computer. Pay-as-you-Go allows you to set a rate per minute and calculates a total/ charges when the user logs off.
  • E-Ticket: Allows for easy browsing and printing of boarding passes. Also available as locked-down stand-alone system. With, Full Throttle (Pay-per-Use) access to E-Ticket can be set to free.
  • iPrintHere: allow your guests to print from any computer anywhere in the hotel, while enabling you to either charge for usage or offer free
  • ReSYS: Dedicates the PC to 1 application or browsing to 1 or a few web sites. ReSys locks down windows access and key-combinations and sets the PC to a dedicated purpose (specified application). ReSys also always refreshes to the original configuration after every use, keeping the system free of parasites (ad-ware, mall-ware, spy-ware, viruses and hacks).
  • Flight Time TV: Flight Time TV broadcasts flight information of the neighboring airport(s) in real time on the Guest TV Network or digital signage displays.
  • Here2There software: Touch screen based, Interactive wayfinding system, for casinos, hospitals and universities. Indoor, outdoor and local directory listings.
